Images are all individually 'tweaked' to look good on even a grungy computer monitor. They are sized for optimal viewing at 1600 x 1200 resolution, but will work fine at other resolutions. You would pay good money at National Park visitor centers for a CD of screensavers, but here you can get better pictures for free!
Follow the instructions below to download and set up your screensavers (Instructions apply to Windows, using I.E. - Mac people will know what to do!]
1. Click on the link for the Screensaver selection you wish to download. A new browser window will open, showing my UCI webfiles. Files are available for free, anonymous public download: Ignore the login boxes on the left.
2. Click the check box next to the SCREENSAVERS folder that you want, then click the 'Download' button.
3. Select Open when asked if you want to open or save this file. Wait a while: files are ~75 MB, and may take some time to download, depending on the speed of your internet connection.
4. A dialog box will open asking you to extract the zipped files. You might have already installed a 3rd party zip utility. If not, the default Windows utility should open. Click on 'Extract all files'.
5. When asked to select a folder to extract the files to, either choose the default option or (better) make a new folder someplace you can easily find it (e.g. My Documents\My Pictures\Screensavers). Click next.
6. Right-click on a blank area of your desktop. Select 'Screen saver", then select 'My Pictures Slideshow' in the drop-down menu, then click the 'Settings' button.
7. Click the 'Browse' button, and navigate to the folder where you saved the extracted files in step 5.
8. Set up the display options as you desire. Click OK, Apply, OK.
