FACES of ASIA

This book feature portraits taken during trips to Burma and India - two ex--British colonies that have taken very different paths of independence. In Burma we visited with the fishermen on Lake Inle, with rural people in the fields and villages, and with monks, nuns and novices in the monestaries. Highlights in India included the pilgrims and sadhus at the Kumbh Mela - the world's largest religeous gathering - ad visiting nomadic tribespeople in their camps in the Rann of Kutch.

PENGUINS

A lavish compilation of photographs taken during voyages to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands. Nine species of penguins are featured (Adele, African, Chinstrap, Gentoo, King, Macaroni, Magellanic, Rockhopper, Yellow-Eyed, Emperor, Royal, and Snares), capturing their fascinatingly diverse behaviors within the spactaclular landscapes of their natural environments. The fourth edition features new photos taken during a month-long expedition to Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands of New Zealand and Australia.

NAMIBIA

A 100 page book by Ian Parker, featuring landscape and wildlife photographs from Namibia and South Africa, together with a travel guide and suggested itinerary for exploring Namibia by 4wd camber truck. SIXTY PHOTOGRAPHS

A 150 page book by Ian Parker, presenting a compilation of landscape and wildlife photographs from 5 years of the "Photo-of-the-Month" section on the Evanescent Light website. The photographs span locations over five continents, and capture the beauty of the natural world. Each is accompanied by an essay describing the location and subject, the composition and lighting conditions used to capture the shot, and the processing applied to create the final image.

MONO LAKE

I took the photographs in this book over a 12 year period, beginning when I first acquired a digital SLR camera. Mono Lake is one of my favorite locations on earth to photograph - with the bonus that it is within a weekend driving distance from my home. The tufa and ancient saline lake are the foundation for creating striking images, but importantly the conditions are always different on each repeated visit. Situated in a high (6000 ft elevation) bowl beneath the Sierra Nevada mountains Mono Lake gets plenty of weather; on several occasions I have arrived during an afternoon thunderstorm that providentially cleared just in time for sunset. Mono Lake truly combines stunning scenery with evanescent light.
